"I don't have time"

Updated: Mar 28, 2022

I’m over in Canada at the moment, visiting my father and stepmother.

And get this…

They grind their own beans and use a drip filter to make coffee each morning.

Use whole oats that take 10 minutes to cook.

Toast their bread under a grill…

I kid you not, that shit adds an extra 25 minutes to my day, so there’s absolutely NO WAY I’d be able to do that back home.

Which is why I have a bean-to-cup machine toaster and use quick oats, so that putting together my morning breakfast takes 5 minutes max.

In a nutshell; it takes me 20 minutes LESS per day to sort breakfast than it does them. But they have that time, so it’s no problem.

And it got me thinking about how I’ve changed how I do things since Georgia was born.

As a single parent, with NO respite EVER, I have 24 hours in the day to get things done and that’s it.

No one’s going to help me.

And time isn’t going to slow down.

I have x amount of tasks to do and they need to fit into those 24 hours.

So if I’m turning the hob on of a evening, I’m not doing it for just one meal; I’m doing it for at least 8, so that’s 7 other nights that I don’t have to cook.

If I’m having the luxury of a shower or bath, I’m listening to an educational podcast so I can become a better coach.

When I first started coaching, I invested in a second monitor, so that I can work quicker between applications on the computer.

And a biggie, although it sound quite simple, was getting my weekly shop delivered.

It was a gamechanger for me, I have to say, and I very rarely go shopping in person anymore, investing that saved hour in something more productive instead.

So if you’re sat there right now, genuinely thinking "I don't have time to exercise", look at the things you do on a daily basis, and see if there are alternative ways to speed them up, thus freeing up some time.

And when you do, if you still don’t start moving your booty, then it’s time to start asking the question of “why?”, because at that point, we know that it’s actually not got anything to do with “not having enough time” 😉

And that's a whopping big win, even though it might feel like it.

I’ll talk about that later this week.

But if you genuinely can't find a way to free up time, or have freed up some time and haven't got a clue or the motivation to start, then hit the button below to hop on a free call with me to see how I can help.
