If you’re suffering with physical and mental fatigue, well…
…it turns out dark chocolate may be the answer!
A study conducted in Dec 2022 by Nemoto et al., found that “dark chocolate reduced mental and physical fatigue”.
Further to this, they found that it “enhanced vitality, executive function, memory, and grey matter volume both directly and indirectly.”
Due to fatigue being reduced, this led to an improvement in physical function (enough energy to exercise).
Which in turn had a positive impact on emotional functioning (increased mood). Note it’s the exercise here.
There was some relief of body pain - exercise is, after all, the ‘magic pill’ for 26 chronic diseases, from depression to heart failure. (Pedersen and Saltin, 2015). Again… exercise.
And social functioning (not being such a grumpy sh*te). Probably exercise again as it’s a great de-stresser.
Funnily enough, I tend to pop a bar of 85% on your example food diaries, just to show you you CAN have chocolate if you plan your meals well enough.
Now don’t be thinking that smashing a chocolate bar a day is going to get you ready for Summer 2023, bring down your blood pressure and prevent a broken hip in 20-30 years.
It’s not.
But what it may well do, is give you a smidge more energy and ummphh, so that doing the exercise that addresses all the aforementioned, is possible.
So, stick the bars of 85% on your shopping list, then drop me a line and we'll get you started straight away.
